Associate Accountant | Business Sweden

The Tone:
This is a full-time hybrid role at Business Sweden, located in Chicago, IL. Business Sweden is dedicated to helping Swedish companies expand and thrive in the U.S. market by providing expert financial advice and administrative accounting support across diverse industries. This role is crucial for supporting our clients, complementing our collaborative and ambitious team, and contributing to the growth of our client base and service offerings.

• Mission: Supports the organization’s mission to help Swedish companies grow in U.S. by providing expert financial advice and administrative accounting support to clients.
• Tech Stack: Quickbooks (Premier, Accountant, Online), Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Powerpoint)

What You’ll Actually Do
• Client Support: Offer support and advisory services across a variety of client accounts, ranging from startups to established corporations.
• Financial Reporting: Prepare external financial statements for customers by gathering and analyzing information from the general ledger system.
• General Ledger Management: Prepare general ledger entries, maintain records and files, reconcile accounts, and close month-end processes.
• Client Engagement: Actively engage in client dialogues, understand client needs, and promote our service offerings when appropriate.
• Financial Analysis & Presentation: Interpret and present prospective client’s month-end financials to their boards, answering accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a similar field.
• Experience: At least 1-2 years of accounting experience, with specific experience in payroll processing or administration and the Month-End-Close process.
• Skills: Proficiency in Quickbooks (Premier, Accountant, Online) and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Powerpoint); good knowledge of GAAP; strong attention to detail and ability to interpret and analyze data; client-focused with an emphasis on relationship building; ability to prioritize efficiently and strong accountability for meeting deadlines.
• Bonus: Knowledge in Sales Tax, Payroll Processing, and Benefits Administration; experience with Business Central; experience with AI platforms (preferably CoPilot).
