2027 Leadership Fellow Program | The Port Authority of New York & New Jersey

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at The Port Authority of New York & New Jersey, with a hybrid presence in New York, NY. The Port Authority builds, operates, and maintains critical transportation and trade infrastructure, including aviation, ground, rail, and seaport facilities, supporting hundreds of thousands of regional jobs and billions in economic activity. This program is designed to cultivate future leaders by providing a broad understanding of the agency’s structure, goals, and strategic direction through diverse rotational assignments. Fellows actively contribute to initiatives and engage in continuous learning, preparing them for key positions within the organization.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Project Leadership: Lead or support projects from inception to implementation across various business functions.
• Cross-functional Collaboration: Partner with diverse teams to develop solutions, deliver outcomes, and track progress.
• Data Analysis: Collect, analyze, and interpret data to inform and support strategic initiatives.
• Stakeholder Communication: Present updates and build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
• Strategic Contribution: Identify operational and strategic challenges, contributing creative ideas for improvement.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Graduate degree in a relevant field, with expected receipt between December 2026 and June 2027.
• Experience: One year of work experience, including internships, in public service, transportation, government, or a related area.
• Skills: Excellent problem-solving, analytical, quantitative, and interpersonal skills, along with strong written/oral communication and customer service abilities.
• Bonus: Graduate degree in Public Administration, Public Policy, Urban/City/Regional Planning, Transportation, Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Sustainability, Communications, Political Science, Data Science, or Operations; political acumen; an interest in public transportation; a passion for public service; and openness to rotating through diverse business functions.
