Tax Associate, Core Tax Services – Winter 2027 (Seattle) | BDO USA

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at BDO USA, located in Seattle. BDO provides assurance, tax, and advisory services to clients across the U.S. and around the world. This role is crucial for assisting clients with tax compliance, minimizing their reporting burdens, and supporting their financial growth with confidence.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Tax Compliance: Ensures clients comply with all applicable authorities, minimizing their tax and reporting burdens.
• Tax Preparation: Prepares required tax filings (tax returns) using a system of review and documentation.
• Data Collection: Collects all necessary data for filing requirements and identifies missing items for communication.
• Tax Consulting: Assists with developing and implementing efficient methods to decrease clients’ current and future taxes.
• Tax Provisions: Assists with the preparation and/or review of income tax provisions (ASC 740).

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Economics or Statistics OR a Bachelor’s degree in another focus area with CPA certification (or Authorization to Test for the CPA exam or equivalent documentation) prior to start date. This is an Entry-Level role.
• Experience: No specific years of experience required. Leadership experience and an accounting-based internship are preferred.
• Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to follow instructions as directed; ability to work effectively in a team setting; ability to prepare simple tax returns; utilizes basic research skills.
• Bonus: Master’s in accountancy or taxation, preferred; eligible to sit for the CPA exams, or progress towards admission to practice in a U.S. jurisdiction, or progress towards Internal Revenue Service Enrolled Agent (EA) upon starting employment, preferred; proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite, preferred.
