Federal Tax Services Intern – Winter 2027 | RSM US LLP

The Federal Tax Services Intern plays a vital role in supporting client service teams, contributing to essential tax compliance and planning activities.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Tax Specialties: Work collaboratively on a team that focuses on a wide range of tax specialty areas, including accounting for income taxes, accounting methods and periods, corporate taxation, federal credits and incentives, and individual taxation. This also extends to mergers and acquisitions, pass-through entity taxation, private client services, and not-for-profit organizations.
• Planning & Research: Complete essential tax planning activities and conduct thorough research into complex tax regulations to provide accurate and informed advice.
• Return Preparation: Prepare accurate federal, state, and local tax returns for various client entities and individuals.
• Regulatory Understanding: Develop a deep understanding of evolving tax regulations and critical accounting pronouncements to ensure compliance and effective client service.

The Must-Haves
• Background: This is an entry-level internship opportunity for students actively working towards a Bachelor of Arts or Science degree, or an equivalent qualification, in Accounting from an accredited university. Candidates must have completed a minimum of 90 credit hours.
• Experience: Required to travel to assigned client locations and must possess access to, and the ability to arrange for, reliable modes of transportation to reach these sites.
• Skills: Possess a strong foundational grasp of accounting principles and demonstrated computer proficiency. Candidates should also have the ability to work effectively on a team and multitask efficiently in a professional environment.
• Bonus: A minimum 3.0 GPA is preferred, alongside excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong computer skills, specifically proficiency in Microsoft Excel, and the ability to work effectively on a team and multitask in a demanding environment.
