The Tone:
This is a full-time rotational program at The Port Authority of New York & New Jersey, with a hybrid work model primarily located in New York, NY. The Port Authority, founded in 1921, builds, operates, and maintains essential transportation and trade infrastructure across the country, supporting over 550,000 regional jobs and generating significant economic activity. This two-year fellowship is critical in preparing graduate students to become future leaders of the agency, providing a broad understanding of its structure, goals, and strategic direction through diverse experiences.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Project Leadership: Support or lead short-term and long-term projects within each six-month rotation, often from inception to implementation.
• Cross-functional Collaboration: Work with diverse teams to develop solutions, deliver outcomes, and effectively track progress on initiatives.
• Data Analysis: Collect, analyze, and interpret various data sets to inform and support strategic initiatives across departments.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Build strong relationships and communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders at all levels, including delivering presentations to leadership.
• Operational Improvement: Identify challenges and contribute creative ideas for operational or strategic improvements across different business functions.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Master’s degree (or equivalent graduate degree) expected between December 2026 and June 2027.
• Experience: One year of relevant work experience, including internships, in public service, transportation, government, or a related field.
• Skills: Excellent problem-solving, analytical, quantitative, and interpersonal abilities, alongside strong written and oral communication skills.
• Bonus: Graduate degree in Public Administration, Public Policy, Urban/City/Regional Planning, Transportation, Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Sustainability, Communications, Political Science, Data Science, or Operations; a passion for public service; openness to diverse business functions; strong customer service; and political acumen.
