Accounting Internship – Summer 2027 | RETTEW

The Tone:
This is an internship at RETTEW, located in Lancaster, PA, within its Financial Services team. RETTEW is a 100% employee-owned multidisciplinary engineering consulting firm that has been helping clients solve complex challenges and strengthen infrastructure since 1969. This role offers valuable hands-on experience by supporting the essential accounting, reporting, compliance, and analysis activities that underpin the firm’s operations. The internship provides a meaningful opportunity for an aspiring accounting professional to apply classroom knowledge in a corporate setting, gain exposure to diverse financial processes, and build practical skills beyond the academic environment.

• Team: Financial Services team, reporting directly to the Controller and collaborating with other team members.
• Mission: Support the recurring accounting, reporting, compliance, and financial analysis activities vital for a multidisciplinary engineering consulting firm.
• Tech Stack: Deltek Vantagepoint, Microsoft applications (including Excel).

What You’ll Actually Do
• Support: Recurring accounting, reporting, compliance, and financial-analysis activities to ensure operational continuity.
• Assist: With annual accounting engagements, audit support, tax-return preparation, and the annual budgeting process.
• Maintain: Supporting schedules, records, reconciliations, and other financial documentation, including lease-accounting activities and recurring monthly analyses.
• Develop: Reports and organize financial information efficiently using Deltek Vantagepoint and Microsoft applications.
• Improve: Financial Services processes by documenting workflows and identifying opportunities to enhance consistency, efficiency, and explore AI/automation.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Current junior or senior pursuing a bachelor’s degree in accounting, possessing foundational knowledge of accounting, taxation, and business concepts through completed coursework. Intent to pursue CPA licensure after graduation is required.
• Experience: Completed coursework providing foundational knowledge in accounting, taxation, and business concepts. Availability to work 40 hours per week during Summer 2027 and adhere to RETTEW’s standard hybrid schedule in Lancaster, PA.
• Skills: Strong analytical, problem-solving, organization, and attention-to-detail skills are essential. Requires honest and open communication, accountability, and a willingness to proactively ask questions and seek clarification. Ability to work both independently on tasks and collaboratively within the Financial Services team, accepting feedback, adapting to changing priorities, and following work through to completion. Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, coupled with the ability to quickly learn and navigate new financial systems like Deltek Vantagepoint.
• Bonus: Prior internship, campus organization, work, or project experience involving accounting or business operations. Coursework in intermediate accounting, taxation, auditing, information systems, or data analytics. Experience using Microsoft Excel for calculations, data organization, or analysis. Interest in financial reporting, process improvement, automation, or AI-enabled efficiencies.
