Accounting Specialist | Johnson County Clin Trials (JCCT)

The Tone:
This is a role at Johnson County Clin Trials (JCCT), located in Lenexa, KS. JCCT conducts clinical trials, contributing to medical advancements and research. This Accounting Specialist role is crucial for supporting key financial processes, ensuring accurate record-keeping, and maintaining compliance, which directly enables the organization’s operational efficiency and financial health. This position provides essential support within the Accounting department, contributing to the smooth functioning of financial operations.

• Mission: Provide support for key accounting processes, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and general accounting responsibilities.
• Tech Stack: QuickBooks Online, QuickBooks Desktop, Microsoft Office 365 Suite (Excel, Word, Office, Teams)

What You’ll Actually Do
• Clerical Support: Efficiently handle routine clerical accounting responsibilities within the finance department, maintaining compliance with GAAP guidelines.
• Transaction Management: Manage day-to-day accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, ensuring all transactions are approved and appropriately coded by account and department.
• Statement Reconciliation: Reconcile credit card and bank statements monthly, obtaining appropriate backup documentation for all transactions.
• Month-End Activities: Participate actively in month-end closing procedures, preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, and completing other accounting tasks promptly.
• Financial Analysis: Conduct comprehensive analysis of business transactions and variances, proactively identifying and resolving discrepancies and implementing corrective actions.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance, or an appropriate combination of education and work experience.
• Experience: Minimum of one year of accounting experience, proficient in QuickBooks Online and Desktop, and knowledgeable in Microsoft Office 365 Suite.
• Skills: Demonstrates strong analytical and problem-solving skills, ability to stay organized and meet deadlines, and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Bonus: Healthcare experience is preferred.
