Senior Paralegal, Contracts | The Nature Conservancy

The Tone:
This is an hourly, 35-hour work week position at The Nature Conservancy, located remotely within the USA. The Nature Conservancy is a science-based organization dedicated to protecting the lands and waters upon which all life depends, creating innovative, on-the-ground solutions for a world where people and nature thrive. This Senior Paralegal role is crucial for supporting and coordinating legal services on complex and/or high value matters, ensuring that all transactions and activities across the organization are legally sound and consistent with TNC’s mission, authority, policies, and procedures. The successful candidate will apply advanced knowledge and skills to meet organizational needs efficiently and effectively, helping to manage legal liability and risk.

The TL;DR
• Role: Full Time
• Type: Hourly, 35-hour work week
• Location: Remote – USA
• Pay: $50000–$80000 hourly
• Team: Reports with minimal supervision to a TNC attorney.
• Mission: To ensure transactions and activities are legally sound and consistent with TNC’s mission by providing advanced legal support and coordinating complex legal services.
• Tech Stack: MS Office, SharePoint, iManage, contract management systems, related technologies.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Legal Oversight: Provide an advanced level of expertise to support and coordinate legal services on complex and/or high value matters for assigned business units or projects, ensuring all activities are legally sound and consistent with TNC’s mission, authority, policies, and procedures.
• Agreement Management: Review, draft, negotiate, and manage a wide range of commercial agreements, including vendor, consulting, technology, services, and confidentiality contracts, utilizing established templates, playbooks, and negotiation guidance.
• Stakeholder Partnership: Serve as a key point of contact for contract intake, partnering with internal stakeholders to gather requirements, identify potential risks, and facilitate timely contract review and execution.
• System & Resource Management: Support the administration of contract management systems and related technologies, track contract metrics, monitor workflow performance, maintain contract templates and clause libraries, and coordinate the organization’s trademark and service mark portfolio.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree plus 5 years of combined legal and administrative experience OR equivalent qualifications acquired through coursework and/or related job experience that demonstrates assumption of significant responsibilities for supporting and coordinating complex or specialized legal work.
• Experience: Substantial legal experience with contract review and/or contracts administration, including conducting research on the Internet and in other legal resources. Experience with enterprise file management solutions such as SharePoint or iManage, and project and/or process management for efficient workflow.
• Skills: Exceptional attention to detail, strong organizational skills, effective communication, critical thinking, and advanced writing skills, including experience editing and drafting legal documents, with a solid understanding of legal liability and risk management.
• Bonus: Multi-lingual skills and multi-cultural experience, prior experience tracking Trademark portfolio(s), and experience reviewing technology and data processing agreements.
