The Tone:
This is an internship at Chartwells Higher Education Dining Services, located in Lexington, KY. Chartwells Higher Education provides dining services, and this role supports the campus team at the University of Kentucky. This Finance Intern position is crucial for assisting the Controller team, offering hands-on experience in accounting operations and financial reporting. The intern will gain practical knowledge and contribute to the accuracy of financial processes within a business environment, making a meaningful impact.

• Mission: Support the Controller team by assisting with accounts payable, accounts receivable, sales data entry, and various projects to provide hands-on experience in accounting operations, financial reporting, and business processes.
• Tech Stack: Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Office applications, financial systems

What You’ll Actually Do
• Invoice Processing: Enter and process vendor invoices accurately and timely.
• Customer Billing: Create and process customer invoices.
• Sales Data Management: Enter, validate, and reconcile sales data.
• Financial Close Support: Assist with weekly and month-end close activities.
• Administrative Support: Perform general administrative and data entry tasks as needed.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Pursuing a degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field, with Junior or Senior class standing.
• Experience: No specific years of experience are required beyond academic progression.
• Skills: Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications, ability to handle confidential information professionally, and strong communication and problem-solving skills.
