The Tone:
This is a 12-week internship at Howmet Aerospace, located in Pittsburgh, PA, operating on a hybrid schedule. Howmet Aerospace is a global provider of advanced engineered solutions that advance the world through the aerospace, automotive, defense, and commercial transportation industries, focusing on jet engine components, aerospace fastening systems, titanium structural parts, and forged wheels. This role matters as an active member of the Financial Shared Services team, tackling real-world challenges through impactful assignments that contribute to the company’s financial accounting services and operations. The intern will engage in learning, development, and mentorship while gaining practical experience in financial accounting.

• Mission: Perform a variety of tasks within Financial Accounting Services (FAS), including account reconciliations and journal entries, and lead a review of FAS Standard Operating Procedures.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Process Improvement: Lead a thorough review of FAS Standard Operating Procedures and update the yearly review process.
• Core Accounting Operations: Utilize Excel and various other tools to perform account reconciliations and journal entries for FAS.
• Lease & General Ledger Support: Gain exposure to lease accounting by reconciling lease balance sheet accounts and assisting with monthly general ledger financial close and consolidation.
• Credit & Collections Management: Contact customers to follow up on payment status, reconcile customer accounts, and evaluate creditworthiness for new or existing customers.
• Financial Analysis: Analyze business operations to identify key performance issues and apply finance/accounting principles to real-life scenarios.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Currently enrolled in an accredited Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics with an expected graduation date in Fall 2027 or Spring 2028.
• Experience: Demonstrated internship, work, research, or extracurricular participation, involved with at least 1 extracurricular activity.
• Skills: Knowledge of Microsoft Office; minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 or equivalent; legally authorized to work in the United States.
