Federal Tax Services Intern – Winter 2027 | RSM US LLP

• Mission: This person supports client needs by completing tax planning and research, preparing federal and state & local tax returns, and understanding tax regulations.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Work on a team focusing on a wide range of tax specialty areas, including accounting for income taxes, corporate taxation, individual taxation, and not-for-profit organizations.
• Engage with specific tax matters such as accounting methods and periods, federal credits and incentives, mergers and acquisitions, and pass-through entity taxation.
• Complete thorough tax planning and research to support client objectives and compliance.
• Prepare accurate federal and state & local tax returns for various entities.
• Understand and apply relevant tax regulations and accounting pronouncements to ensure compliance and effective client service.

The Must-Haves
• Background: This is an entry-level position for individuals working towards a B.A. / B.S. degree or equivalent in Accounting from an accredited university. Candidates must have completed at least 90 credit hours.
• Experience: Travel to assigned client locations is a requirement for this role. Candidates must have personal access to and the ability to arrange for the use of reliable modes of transportation to these locations.
• Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential. Strong computer proficiency, including expertise in Microsoft Excel, is required. The ability to work effectively as part of a team is also critical for success.
• Bonus: A minimum 3.0 GPA is preferred. Additionally, the ability to work and multitask efficiently in a fast-paced environment is a preferred qualification.
