Associate Tax Accountant | Johanson & Yau

• Mission: Assist with tax return preparation and develop knowledge of federal and state tax laws and regulations for individuals and businesses.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Prepare: Prepare individual and business tax returns and related financial statements under guidance.
• Develop: Develop a working knowledge of federal and state tax concepts, regulations, laws, and filing requirements.
• Organize: Review and organize client financial information, including various tax statements and documentation.
• Document: Prepare clear, accurate, and well-organized workpapers, calculations, and supporting documentation for review.
• Research: Research basic tax matters using available technical resources and assist with federal and state tax notices.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Undergraduate degree in accounting, finance, or a related business discipline.
• Experience: 1–2 years of public accounting or related tax experience is preferred, including relevant tax or public accounting internship experience.
• Skills: Strong attention to detail, effective written and verbal communication skills, curiosity and willingness to learn, ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines, and sound judgment with confidential information.
• Bonus: Meets or is working toward the educational requirements necessary to sit for the CPA exam, with an interest in pursuing CPA licensure.
