This is a full-time internship at Marathon Petroleum Corporation, an energy industry leader, located primarily in Findlay, Ohio, with opportunities in San Antonio, Texas, and Denver, Colorado, as well as various refinery locations. This role offers hands-on training and exposure to the dynamics of the petroleum industry, helping develop future accounting professionals within a collaborative team environment. Interns are integral to supporting the company’s financial operations and gaining experience with specific job assignments and software programs. • Mission: Support core accounting and financial operations within the petroleum industry while gaining practical on-the-job training.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Analyze and process business documents to support financial operations.
• Analyze accounting and financial data to prepare proper financial statement journal entries.
• Prepare general ledger account reconcilements to ensure accuracy.
• Prepare tax information and assist in the preparation of budgets.
• Test SOX and Non-SOX controls during auditing processes.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Concurrent enrollment in a bachelor’s degree (or higher) seeking program for the duration of the experience, with an Accounting major required, though other business majors may be considered. This is an entry-level position.
• Experience: Strong academic performance is required, and candidates must be authorized to work in the US on a full-time indefinite basis without the need for employment visa sponsorship now or in the future.
• Skills: Foundational understanding of accounting principles, strong analytical ability for data analysis, and keen attention to detail for document processing and reconciliation.
• Bonus: Military experience is considered a plus.
