2027 Summer Corporate Intern – Accounting | Caterpillar Inc.

The Tone:
This is a 40-hour-per-week onsite corporate accounting internship at Caterpillar Inc., available in multiple locations including Peoria, IL, East Peoria, IL, Mossville, IL, Morton, IL, Mapleton, IL, Seguin, TX, Irving, TX, FT. Worth, TX, Houston, TX, Lafayette, IN, Franklin, IN, and Cary, NC. • Pay: $22.50 – $40.25 hourly
• Mission: This role supports crucial accounting functions by performing tasks similar to entry-level accountants, providing financial insights, and ensuring compliance.
• Tech Stack: Microsoft Excel

What You’ll Actually Do
• Reporting & Analysis: Create reports on financial performance for both internal and external use.
• Financial Forecasting: Estimate various forecast and budget scenarios to support business planning.
• Data Management: Specify, build, maintain, and run data extracts from various subsystems containing account-level information.
• Transaction Management: Post entries, verify, and reconcile input to financial reporting systems, including entering transactions and reconciling various reports.
• Special Projects Support: Take part in special projects and fulfill ad hoc reporting requests as needed.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Must be currently pursuing a degree at a 4-year accredited university/college in an Accounting degree program, at the time of application and throughout the internship program. Must have a minimum of 12 completed semester hours at a 4-year university before the start of the internship, including if a transfer student.
• Experience: No prior experience required.
• Skills: Accuracy and attention to detail, analytical thinking, effective communication, managing multiple priorities, and problem-solving.
• Bonus: Previous accounting internship and/or relevant work experience, completed Intermediate Accounting or first 300-level accounting course by the start of the internship, strong initiative, interpersonal skills, leadership involvement in student associations, and intermediate user of Microsoft Excel.
