Financial Regulatory Reporting – AVP | Mizuho

The Tone:
This is a hybrid position at Mizuho, with the selected colleague working an average of two or three days per week at a Mizuho office and the remainder remotely. Mizuho is a leading global financial group providing corporate and investment banking services across the Americas, EMEA, and Asia. This role is crucial for ensuring the accurate and timely preparation of complex regulatory filings for Mizuho’s US operations, supporting the financial stability and compliance of the organization. It requires a solid understanding of financial accounting, regulatory requirements, and various financial products.

• Team: Mizuho Americas Finance – Financial Regulatory Reporting, reporting to Mizuho Americas CFO.
• Mission: Prepare and submit accurate regulatory reports for Mizuho US operations and support the governance framework of these reports.
• Tech Stack: Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Axiom (preferred), Alteryx (preferred), Power Bi (preferred)

What You’ll Actually Do
• Prepare: Prepare or review a variety of daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual regulatory reports, including Federal Reserve, Department of Treasury, and Department of Commerce filings, accurately interpreting relevant instructions.
• Reconcile: Reconcile reporting data to the General Ledger, validate static data, and perform variance analysis to ensure data integrity and accuracy.
• Govern: Assist in the governance function of regulatory reports by developing trainings, coordinating committee meetings, and managing communications with internal and external stakeholders.
• Adapt: Monitor and ensure that changes in regulatory reporting instructions and accounting standards are incorporated within the submitted reports to maintain compliance.
• Document: Maintain and update procedural documentation related to new and existing regulatory requirements to ensure the firm’s ongoing compliance.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is preferred. Candidates should possess working knowledge of regulatory reporting or financial reporting (US GAAP) and understand various financial products such as loans, deposits, and derivatives.
• Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in financial reporting, regulatory reporting, or a related field. This includes the ability to set up workpapers from the ground up with proper End User Computing (EUC) controls.
• Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word is required. The ability to interpret relevant regulatory instructions and effectively manage multiple tasks is essential for this role.
• Bonus: An advanced degree or professional certifications such as CPA or CFA are preferred. Experience with regulatory reporting tools like Axiom or Business Intelligence tools such as Alteryx or Power BI is also a plus.
