2027 Accounting Intern | Charles Schwab

The Tone:
This is an internship at Charles Schwab, located on-site at a specified location. This role offers students the opportunity to gain foundational experience within Schwab’s Finance organization, contributing to accurate financial reporting and regulatory compliance.

The TL;DR
• Role: Internship
• Location: On-site at a specified location

• Team: Accounting Internship Program (supporting Controllers, Bank Regulatory Reporting, SEC Reporting & Accounting Policy OR SOX Cash Accounting tracks)
• Mission: Develop foundational accounting experience to support accurate financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and internal control maintenance within Schwab’s Finance organization.
• Tech Stack: Microsoft Office tools, Excel, PowerPoint

What You’ll Actually Do
• Reporting Contribution: Contribute to financial reporting cycles, including external disclosures, regulatory filings, and audited financial statements.
• Accounting Operations: Support daily, monthly, and quarterly accounting activities such as journal entries and reconciliations for cash transactions.
• Guidance Research: Research and summarize relevant accounting and regulatory guidance to aid in accurate reporting.
• Team Collaboration: Collaborate with finance professionals and business partners to ensure reporting integrity and operational discipline.
• Process Support: Participate in initiatives aimed at enhancing reporting processes and operational efficiency within the finance organization.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Current student pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Experience: Interest in accounting, accounting policy, financial reporting, regulatory reporting, or corporate finance.
• Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate work, ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines.
• Bonus: Coursework or project experience in financial accounting, reporting, auditing, or regulatory reporting; understanding of accounting principles, journal entries, and general ledger processes; interest in public company reporting, regulatory filings, or SOX compliance; experience interpreting accounting concepts or analyzing financial discrepancies; ability to work collaboratively and present complex information clearly.
