2027 Tax Winter Internship – Michigan | UHY-US

The Tone:
This is a temporary internship at UHY-US, located in Michigan. UHY is one of the nation’s largest professional services firms, providing audit, tax, consulting, and advisory services to clients primarily in the middle market. As an independent member of UHY International, the firm collaborates with clients to develop flexible, innovative solutions. This role offers an opportunity to prepare business and individual tax returns, gaining exposure to a diverse client base while building technical skills as a professional.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Tax Preparation: Assist in preparing federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals, corporations, partnerships, and other entities.
• Research & Analysis: Conduct tax research to interpret relevant tax laws and identify tax-saving opportunities or compliance issues.
• Client Communication: Communicate with clients to gather necessary information and assist in explaining tax concepts and implications.
• Compliance & Documentation: Ensure adherence to tax regulations and deadlines, maintaining organized and comprehensive tax files for client engagements.
• Team Collaboration: Support senior team members in complex tax projects and participate in internal training sessions to enhance technical skills.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Currently enrolled at an accredited college/university pursuing a degree in accounting, finance, or a related field, with a High School Diploma or GED or High School equivalent certificate.
• Experience: 0 – 1 year of relevant experience.
• Skills: Tax preparation, tax research, financial information organization, data entry using tax software, client communication.
• Bonus: Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher; actively working towards achieving CPA or Enrolled Agent licensure or relevant certification; responsible for completing the minimum CPE credit requirement.
