Tax Intern | Spring 2027 | CBIZ

The Tone:
This is an internship at CBIZ, located in Mayfield, OH. CBIZ is a leading business advisory and financial services organization that provides a range of tax and consulting services to clients across diverse industries. This role is crucial for developing future tax professionals, offering hands-on experience in tax compliance and client service within a professional environment. The intern will contribute directly to client projects and gain foundational knowledge in various tax areas.

• Mission: To support tax compliance functions, assist with client assignments, and develop foundational knowledge in federal and state tax preparation and advisory services.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Project Planning: Gain understanding and assist in planning multiple tax assignments across a broad range of industries, including Real Estate, Construction, Healthcare, and Manufacturing.
• Tax Preparation: Prepare and review accurate federal and state tax returns for various entities, including partnerships, C corporations, S corporations, and individuals.
• Compliance Support: Develop tax compliance knowledge and assist with critical tasks such as IRS audits, tax notice responses, and the preparation of trust, gift, and estate returns.
• Client Engagement: Participate in client assignments comprehensively, from initial stages through to completion.
• Relationship Building: Cultivate and maintain excellent working relationships with all levels of client staff, enhancing customer satisfaction and strengthening client ties.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Working towards a Bachelor’s degree, suitable for an entry-level position focused on tax and accounting principles.
• Experience: Demonstrated strong computer and technical proficiency, including Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, and intranet software.
• Skills: Excellent interpersonal, analytical, research, and project management capabilities; proven ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing; capacity to multi-task, think independently, and problem-solve in a team-oriented setting.
• Bonus: A Master’s degree in Accounting, Taxation, or a related field is preferred; active participation in student organizations or prior work experience in accounting or a related field is a plus.
