Audit Intern – Summer 2027 | Carr, Riggs & Ingram
The Tone:
This is an internship at Carr, Riggs & Ingram, located in Denver, CO. The company, through its CapinCrouse division, provides financial integrity and security support to over 1,600 mission-focused nonprofit organizations nationwide. CRI is a nationally recognized accounting and advisory firm known for its audit, tax, and business consulting expertise. This role is crucial for helping mission-focused nonprofits maintain sound financial practices and contributes to CRI’s collaborative, client-focused approach.
The TL;DR

• Pay: $25–$30 hourly

What You’ll Actually Do
• Auditing: Perform substantive auditing procedures in assigned areas.
• Understanding: Obtain an understanding of the work to be performed and the purpose of the work.
• Documentation: Prepare working papers which adequately document the tests performed and procedures followed to substantiate conclusions reached.
• Compliance: Be alert to the proper and consistent application of accounting principles in performing audit procedures.
• Reporting: Identify and document control deficiencies or other matters that warrant the attention of management.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-Level. Two or more years of university education completed by the time of starting the internship, actively pursuing a bachelor’s degree in accounting. Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without the need for employment-based visa sponsorship now or in the future.
• Experience: Familiarity with Microsoft Office software (Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Skills: Demonstrated written and oral communication skills, demonstrated ability to work independently and as a team, ability and willingness to work cooperatively with others, high degree of discretion dealing with confidential information.
