This is an internship at Forvis Mazars US, located in Minneapolis, MN. The TL;DR
• Role: Internship
• Type: Seasonal – Full-time or Part-time (early-January through April 15th)
• Location: In-person – Minneapolis, MN
• Pay: $30 hourly
• Mission: Assist in audit engagements and financial data analysis to provide valuable support to clients and senior staff, contributing to a comprehensive understanding of client finances.
• Tech Stack: Microsoft Office suite (preferred)
What You’ll Actually Do
• Complete audit testing: Perform detailed audit procedures on various financial statement accounts, including cash, accounts payable, and fixed assets, to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Collaborate on financial analysis: Work directly with client personnel to reconcile account differences and meticulously analyze financial data, contributing to a comprehensive understanding of client finances.
• Support report drafting: Assist in the preparation and drafting of crucial documents such as management letter comments and the final audit report, consolidating findings and recommendations.
• Engage in client meetings: Actively participate in client meetings alongside Forvis Mazars partners and managers, gaining exposure to client relationships and high-level discussions.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Currently pursuing a degree working toward CPA Exam eligibility, with a minimum cumulative overall GPA of 3.0 and satisfactory academic performance in major-related coursework.
• Experience: No specific years of professional experience are required for this internship role. Candidates must have reliable transportation to and from the assigned office in Minneapolis and be capable of attending off-site client meetings and events in person as needed.
• Skills:
• Solid technical accounting knowledge: Apply a strong foundational understanding of accounting principles and practices in daily tasks.
• Effective time management: Prioritize and manage multiple tasks efficiently to meet deadlines in a demanding environment.
• Strong oral and written communication skills: Clearly articulate findings, questions, and recommendations both verbally and in written reports.
• Ability to work well with a team as well as independently: Collaborate effectively with colleagues while also demonstrating initiative and self-sufficiency on individual assignments.
• Close attention to detail: Meticulously review financial data and documentation to identify discrepancies and ensure accuracy in all work performed.
• Bonus: Strong computer skills, particularly proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook), are preferred.
