Senior Embedded Software Engineer | Motorola Solutions
The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Silvus Technologies, a wholly owned subsidiary of Motorola Solutions, located in Irvine, CA. Silvus develops advanced MANET and MIMO communications systems, including their StreamCaster family of MANET radios, for mission-critical applications. This role is crucial for enhancing the technology that helps keep people safer everywhere, providing vital communication links for defense, law enforcement, and public safety agencies globally.

• Mission: Develop and enhance MANET radios and advanced research projects to ensure robust and secure communication for critical applications.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Implementation: Implement software for MAC (Medium Access Control) and mobile ad-hoc networking routing protocols.
• Development: Develop network management software and web interfaces.
• Security: Implement different security protocols and encryption algorithms, including analyzing and improving product security to meet regulatory requirements such as NIST FIPS 140-3 and NIAP Common Criteria.
• Device Software: Design and maintain device drivers and Board Support Packages for both ARM and RISC-V based systems.
• Customization: Customize Linux systems and develop scripts for product performance and reliability testing.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer or Communications Engineering, Computer Science, or a relevant engineering field.
• Experience: Minimum 5 years of relevant embedded system software development experience, or 3 years of relevant embedded system software development experience with an advanced STEM degree.
• Skills: Expertise in C programming, experience in Linux kernel driver development, demonstrated experience with socket programming and various Internet/Ethernet protocols, and understanding of the MAC and Networking layers of a communication system.
• Bonus: Master of Science degree in Electrical, Computer, or Communications Engineering or Computer Science; knowledge and experience of different security protocols and encryption algorithms such as the CNSA suite; experience in AMD UltraScale+, MPSoC, Microchip Polarfire SoC, or BSP development; deep understanding of Internet Protocol Security (IPsec), network protocols, data authentication and encryption; Linux Interrupt Service Routine development.
