AVP, Credit Officer – Project & Aviation Finance | Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group

The AVP Credit Officer acts as a trusted risk partner, providing insightful credit recommendations to ensure informed decision-making and effective risk management for the bank.

• Team: Credit Office, MBE’s second line of defence function, reporting directly to the Head of CIB Credit.
• Mission: Assess and monitor Project Finance and Aviation Finance transactions, providing insightful credit recommendations to enable informed decision-making and effective risk management, thereby protecting the Bank’s balance sheet and supporting strategic objectives.
• Tech Stack: Microsoft Office applications
What You’ll Actually Do
• Review & Recommend: Review credit applications and provide well-reasoned recommendations to senior management, ensuring high-quality analysis and effective portfolio monitoring across the Structured Finance portfolio.
• Assess Transactions: Independently assess a broad range of complex Project Finance and Aviation Finance transactions, covering diverse sectors such as infrastructure, energy, transportation, and aircraft assets.
• Partner & Guide: Act as a trusted risk partner, collaborating closely with Front Office teams to provide risk-based guidance, proactively identify potential issues, and escalate concerns effectively when appropriate.
• Develop Expertise: Continuously develop and deepen expertise across various Structured Finance sectors, global markets, and complex financing structures, demonstrating a strong commitment to ongoing professional learning.
• Promote Risk Culture: Contribute to and promote a strong, robust risk culture throughout the organization through proactive risk management practices, fostering collaboration, and offering constructive challenge to proposals.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, preferably in Finance, Economics, or a related field; a sound understanding of regulatory requirements relating to credit sanctioning and portfolio monitoring, specifically within Project Finance and/or Aviation Finance.
• Experience: A minimum of 2 years’ experience specifically in Project Finance and/or Aviation Finance.
• Skills: Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills; Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills; Demonstrated strong attention to detail; Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
