Assistant Director for Finance and Administration – Business Operations | Medical University of South Carolina

• Team: Reports with a matrixed structure to the Director of Business Operations and the Senior Director of Enterprise Strategic Financial Planning & Analysis.
• Mission: Provides comprehensive financial stewardship, resource management, and administrative oversight for all Business Operations domains.
• Tech Stack: MUSC Enterprise administrative and financial software systems

What You’ll Actually Do
• Budget & Financial Oversight: Provide comprehensive oversight of all Business Services and Chief Operations Officer budgets, ensuring accuracy, transparency, and alignment with enterprise financial standards.
• Strategic Planning & Leadership: Serve as a strategic advisor to operations leadership on financial planning, workforce impacts, and resource allocation, ensuring alignment with enterprise strategic priorities.
• Administrative Operations: Direct administrative operations, including procurement, contracting, and policy development, while implementing process improvements for streamlining and compliance.
• Financial Reporting & Analytics: Oversee the creation of monthly enterprise-wide financial and workforce performance reports, developing dashboards and analytics for data-driven decision-making.
• Enterprise Collaboration: Serve as a key liaison with Enterprise Financial Officers, procurement, leadership, and business partners to align financial, human resources, and operational strategies.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Master’s degree in a relevant field such as finance, business administration, or public administration, demonstrating progressive experience in managing large and complex public sector business entities.
• Experience: Five years of relevant and progressive experience with a Master’s degree, or eight years of experience with a Bachelor’s degree, including extensive knowledge of MUSC Enterprise administrative and financial software systems.
• Skills: Ability to make critical decisions, critical and creative thinking, complex problem-solving, and analyzing large sets of data including financial and space metrics.
