AI Risk Governance Director | Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group

This critical position is responsible for establishing and leading the AI Risk Governance Program, ensuring responsible AI adoption and effective risk management across the organization.

• Pay: $225000–$275000 yearly
• Team: Leads and develops the AI Risk Governance team, serving as the enterprise owner of the AI Risk Governance Program.
• Mission: Establish and mature an enterprise-wide AI Risk Governance Program to ensure responsible AI adoption and effective risk management across MUFG’s global operations.
What You’ll Actually Do
• Program Leadership: Own the AI Risk Governance Program, establishing its strategic direction, long-term maturity objectives, and the supporting governance operating model.
• Framework Development: Lead the creation, implementation, and maintenance of governance frameworks, standards, methodologies, and procedures for AI solutions.
• Enterprise Oversight: Provide enterprise oversight of AI governance activities, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives, risk-management expectations, and evolving requirements.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Serve as the senior AI Risk Governance point of contact, building strong partnerships and facilitating alignment across business, technology, legal, compliance, and risk functions.
• Regulatory Assurance: Oversee AI governance responses to audit, examination, and regulatory activities, ensuring all documentation and evidence are complete and defensible.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Risk Management, Finance, Information Systems, Technology, Data Science, Law, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience; this is a Director-level position.
• Experience: 10+ years in governance, risk management, compliance, audit, operational risk, technology risk, model risk, data governance, cybersecurity, or third-party risk, with 5+ years in a leadership capacity within these functions.
• Skills: Strong understanding of governance, risk management, controls, issue management, oversight, and accountability frameworks; deep understanding of AI governance, responsible AI concepts, and emerging technology risks; strong strategic thinking and executive communication skills.
• Bonus: Experience leading enterprise governance or emerging-risk programs; involvement in global or cross-regional governance initiatives; professional certifications such as CRISC, CISA, CISSP, CISM, FRM, CAMS, CFE, or CIPM.
