Accountant, Property Accounting | Invitation Homes

The Tone:

This Property Accountant role is crucial for maintaining the financial accuracy and integrity of the general ledger, directly contributing to timely and precise financial reporting for shareholders and internal partners. What You’ll Actually Do
• Financial Recordkeeping: Take responsibility for preparing a high volume of journal entries, performing bank reconciliations across multiple accounts, and meticulously maintaining balance sheet account reconciliations to ensure data accuracy.
• Financial Review & Analysis: Conduct thorough reviews of balance sheets and income statements to verify their accuracy, and assist with recurring and ad hoc analyses of financial results to provide insights into operating trends and performance.
• Month-End Close Management: Actively support and ensure that all month-end close deadlines are consistently met, contributing to the timely completion of financial reporting cycles.
• Audit & Compliance Support: Provide essential assistance for both internal and external audit requests, including the meticulous documentation required for SOX compliance and the maintenance of internal controls.
• Professional Development: Participate in company-provided training programs designed to enhance understanding of the single-family residential business, fostering continuous learning and professional growth within the company.

The Must-Haves
• Background: An Early Career professional holding a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field, demonstrating foundational knowledge in financial principles.
• Experience: Possess intermediate knowledge of Excel functionality, and preferably 1+ years of experience in accounting and financial statement preparation.
• Skills: Exhibit an analytical mindset with strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities; capable of effectively prioritizing tasks in a demanding environment; proficient in applying Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and comprehending financial statements.
• Bonus: Prior experience with Yardi is a plus.
