2027 Finance Leadership Experience Summer Internship Program | New York Life
The Tone:
This is a seasonal internship at New York Life, located in New York, NY with a hybrid work schedule requiring three days per week in the office. This program offers a dynamic experience designed to challenge interns through hands-on work across various finance functions, including planning and analytics, budget and expense management, and controllership. Interns will gain valuable skills, build a robust professional network, and have the opportunity to secure full-time offers for the Finance & Accounting Rotational Leadership program, shaping their future careers in finance. What You’ll Actually Do
• Skill Enhancement Training: Kickstart the summer with comprehensive training classes specifically designed to enhance proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint, alongside an essential introduction to insurance and financial services industry concepts.
• Industry Insight Seminars: Continuously learn through weekly seminars led by experienced professionals from Corporate Finance, Insurance, and Investments groups, gaining deep insights into the industry, various financial functions, and the organizational structure of New York Life.
• Senior Leadership Engagement: Actively engage with the Senior Finance Leadership Team (SFLT), including a fireside group chat with the Chief Financial Officer and breakfast with the Treasurer and Controller, fostering direct exposure to top-tier management.
• Mentorship & Networking: Build a strong professional network by participating in a mentor pairing program with a full-time Finance employee, engaging in coffee chats with associates, attending social events like welcome breakfasts, team-building sessions, and a farewell dinner with senior leaders.
• Project Presentation & Application: Apply learned skills by completing challenging hands-on projects and special assignments within diverse finance functions, culminating in a formal presentation about the summer experience and project outcomes.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-level professional who is a rising senior or currently enrolled in a Graduate program, actively working towards a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. Preferred academic concentrations include Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Business Analytics.
• Experience: Demonstrated academic excellence with a cumulative GPA of 3.3 or higher. Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without requiring employment-based immigration sponsorship, Optional Practical Training (OPT), or Curricular Practical Training (CPT).
• Skills: Proven proficiency in Microsoft Excel, foundational experience with generative AI, strong written and oral communication skills, effective interpersonal skills, an analytically minded approach, intellectual curiosity, and a collaborative team-player attitude with a keen desire for continuous learning.
