The Tone:
This is an internship opportunity at Goldbelt, Incorporated, offering positions across its companies and externship opportunities at partner organizations in Juneau, Alaska. Goldbelt, an Alaska Native Corporation headquartered in Juneau, is a fast-growing “forever” company managing over 30 subsidiaries and a shared service center in Herndon, Virginia. Its core mission is to profoundly impact the lives of over 4,200 Alaska Native shareholders, rooted in a creation story from a 1971 act of Congress. This role is crucial for Goldbelt, as interns and externs contribute to its mission by developing industry skills, exploring career paths, and engaging in paid training, ultimately supporting the next generation of shareholders and descendants entering the workforce.

• Mission: This person helps shareholders and descendants develop industry skills and explore career opportunities through paid training and work-study programs.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Enable Workforce Entry: Participate in a program designed to give Goldbelt shareholders and descendants a head start as they enter the workforce.
• Receive Business Training: Engage in paid training and work-study opportunities that provide an overview of business functions within a for-profit corporate setting.
• Explore Diverse Fields: Pursue paid externship opportunities at partner organizations in Juneau, gaining hands-on experience in fields such as construction, healthcare, or public media.
• Develop Professional Skills: Learn networking skills by partnering with other Alaska Native organizations and participating in workshops and trainings for career development.
• Enhance Cultural Knowledge: Engage in sample workshops that cover Tlingit culture and heritage, Alaska Native art, resume writing, interview training, and benefits review.

The Must-Haves
• Background: This is an entry-level internship for individuals currently pursuing or having recently completed an Associate’s, Bachelor’s, or graduate degree from an accredited university (within the past six months). A minimum GPA of 2.0 for undergraduates and 3.0 for graduates is required. Candidates must be a voting shareholder of Goldbelt, Inc. or a lineal descendant of a voting shareholder.
• Experience: A history of working with customers in a service-oriented field is required. Applicants must be available for a commitment of ten (10) weeks and be willing and able to commit to a 40 hour/week, in-person program.
• Skills: Demonstrated excellent customer service skills and the ability to work tactfully and courteously with clients and the public. Strong oral and written communication skills are essential, along with the ability to understand and follow directions, maintain a professional demeanor, and exercise common sense and good judgment within the scope of authority. Basic business understanding is also expected.
