Summer 2027 Corporate Development Intern | Diamondback Energy

The Tone:
This is a full-time internship at Diamondback Energy, located in Dallas, TX, for approximately 12 weeks from May to August 2027. Diamondback Energy is an independent oil and natural gas company focused on the acquisition, development, exploration, and exploitation of unconventional, onshore oil and natural gas reserves in the Permian Basin in West Texas. This role is crucial for supporting core corporate development functions, including acquisitions and divestitures, valuation, and corporate strategy, by owning an assigned summer project and contributing to deal evaluation.

• Mission: Own an assigned summer project and support the screening and evaluation of potential acquisition, divestiture, and joint venture opportunities.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Project Leadership: Lead an individual Corporate Development project throughout the summer, culminating in a presentation of the completed project to Diamondback’s executive team.
• Industry Expertise: Develop and increase knowledge of A&D, valuation, and deal evaluation within the oil and gas industry under the supervision of an experienced mentor.
• Financial Analysis: Support the screening and evaluation of potential acquisition, divestiture, and joint venture opportunities, including comps, NAV, and accretion/dilution analysis.
• Executive Support: Assist in preparing deal-related and strategic deliverables for senior executives and the Board of Directors.
• Market Intelligence: Maintain knowledge of Permian Basin transaction activity, peer positioning, and broader industry trends.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Pursuing a bachelor’s degree or higher in Business Administration, Finance, or a similar discipline; must be returning to school for the Fall 2027 semester.
• Experience: Prior internship experience within a financial or M&A setting is preferred.
• Skills: Strong interpersonal, analytical, and communication skills; proficiency with Excel and PowerPoint; strong work ethic and high attention to detail.
• Bonus: GPA of 3.40 or higher; extracurricular achievements or prior work experience; familiarity with the upstream sector and oil and gas industry as a whole.
