Industrial Automation Account Manager Trainee – Sales Development Program | Applied Controls, Inc.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Participate: Engage in a structured 12-month training program at the Applied Controls office in Malvern, PA, designed to build a successful career in industrial technical sales.
• Learn: Acquire consultative outside sales skills, territory management strategies, and techniques for developing strong customer relationships.
• Collaborate: Work alongside experienced Account Managers, participating in customer visits and joint sales calls to gain real-world experience.
• Develop: Build relationships with new and existing customers, developing product recommendations and technical solutions to improve their productivity.
• Execute: Gain hands-on experience with core sales processes including prospecting, quoting, negotiating, and closing deals.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Recent graduate or early-career professional with a Bachelor’s degree, preferably with an Engineering focus, desiring a career in outside/field sales.
• Experience: No previous industrial sales experience is required; however, internship experience in manufacturing, distribution, engineering, industrial automation, or sales is a plus.
• Skills: Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, mechanical curiosity with an interest in industrial systems and equipment, a competitive mindset, and a strong work ethic. You should also enjoy solving problems and thrive in a relationship-driven environment.
• Other Requirements: Hold a valid driver’s license with the ability to travel as needed, including occasional overnight travel, and a willingness to relocate for training and permanent placement.
