Intern Accounting – Intrast Rev | Energy Transfer
The Tone:
This is a seasonal internship with Energy Transfer, located in Houston, TX. Energy Transfer operates as a master limited partnership, managing one of the largest and most diverse energy asset portfolios in the United States, including approximately 120,000 miles of pipelines, terminals, and marketing assets for natural gas, crude oil, refined products, and natural gas liquids. This role is crucial for supporting the Houston Accounting Department’s core functions, ensuring the accuracy of financial records and facilitating essential monthly close processes across various operational areas.

• Team: Placed within a sub-department of the Houston Accounting Department (e.g., accounting systems, financial reporting, fixed assets, operational accounting, shared services).
• Mission: Support the accuracy of financial records and facilitate monthly close processes across various energy asset types and operational departments.
What You’ll Actually Do
• Reconcile accounts: Perform general accounting duties such as account reconciliations to support the accuracy of the general ledger and related sub-ledgers.
• Prepare financial statements: Assist with the preparation of monthly consolidated financial statements.
• Execute operational accounting: Conduct operational accounting duties including, but not limited to, revenue recognition, invoicing analysis, volumetric and/or gallon reconciliations, and customer settlements.
• Collaborate on close processes: Work cross-functionally with measurement, scheduling, business development, contract administration, and other related departments in completing monthly close processes for midstream, pipeline assets, and fuel distribution.
• Contribute to special projects: Assist with special projects as needed within the accounting department.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Currently enrolled in a college bachelor’s program, majoring in Accounting or Finance.
• Experience: Preferably junior status as of Fall 2027. Demonstrated involvement in activities beyond college studies and maintaining an above-average GPA. Completion of introductory accounting and/or finance courses prior to the internship’s commencement.
• Skills: Proficiency in general computer applications and advanced Excel capabilities. Strong written and verbal communication capabilities.
• Bonus: Strong willingness to learn new concepts and adapt well to rapidly changing priorities and responsibilities. Ability to work effectively independently with minimal supervision and to organize, perform, and prioritize various functions in a fast-paced environment. Must be a team player, capable of working effectively with a diverse workforce and various levels within the organization.
