Summer Intern – Accounting | The Friedkin Group

The Tone:
This is a Summer Intern – Accounting opportunity at The Friedkin Group, located in the greater Houston area across various office locations. The Friedkin Group is a diverse privately held consortium, with affiliated companies such as Gulf States Toyota, GSFSGroup, US AutoLogistics, Westside Lexus, Northside Lexus, and Accelerated Solutions Group, and offers internship opportunities across these entities. This role is designed for accounting students eager to gain practical, hands-on experience within a corporate environment. The internship provides exposure to key accounting functions and allows interns to build foundational knowledge alongside experienced accounting professionals, all while upholding the unifying values that guide every decision and action within the organization.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Core Accounting Functions: Gain hands-on exposure to essential accounting responsibilities, including managing the general ledger, processing accounts receivable and accounts payable, conducting account reconciliations, and contributing to financial reporting.
• Cross-Company Collaboration: Engage in collaborative efforts with diverse groups and teams across multiple affiliated companies within The Friedkin Group, fostering a comprehensive understanding of varied business operations.
• System and Process Familiarity: Acquire experience working with a range of accounting systems and processes employed by different organizations, enhancing adaptability and technical acumen.
• Professional Mentorship: Work directly alongside experienced accounting professionals, building practical knowledge through real-world scenarios and receiving guidance in a corporate setting.
• Project Contribution: Contribute to various financial projects and initiatives, applying classroom learning to practical challenges and supporting the accounting needs of the group.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Rising Junior or Senior currently enrolled in a 4-year Accredited College or University pursuing a degree in Accounting.
• Experience: Overall GPA of 3.0 or above. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States, without requiring sponsorship. Interns must reside in the Houston or surrounding areas for the duration of the internship.
• Skills: Foundational understanding of key accounting functions, including general ledger, accounts receivable, accounts payable, account reconciliations, and financial reporting. Possession of a Valid Driver’s License is required.
