Manager Trainee | J.B. Hunt Transport Services, Inc.

The Tone:
This is a full-time management trainee position with J.B. Hunt Transport Services, Inc. As a leading transportation and logistics company, J.B. This role is essential for developing future leaders who will ensure compliance with regulations, maintain strong customer relationships, and optimize fleet operations to deliver best-in-class service to clients.

The TL;DR

• Mission: Learn to manage small driver fleets and non-traditional shifts, ensuring safe and timely freight movement, effective load assignment, and superior customer service.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Driver & Carrier Relations: Learn to build and maintain positive professional relationships with drivers and reliable outside carriers to minimize turnover and maximize ongoing productivity.
• Operational Management & Training: Learn to manage personnel, including training and orientation of drivers, and become proficient in maximizing fleet operations efficiency and profitability.
• Freight & Asset Coordination: Gain knowledge on assigning loads, planning routes, monitoring freight movement for on-time service, and managing inventory, assets, and driver assignments to balance equipment.
• Administrative Oversight: Learn to perform various administrative duties such as payroll processing, budget management, driver counseling, accident reviews, and creating operational or financial reports.
• Yard Management & Issue Resolution: Learn to manage yard operations, including equipment checks and minor repairs, and work with personnel to resolve service, routing, mechanical, or pay-related issues.
• Safety & Compliance: Learn to maintain the Company’s safety culture through daily messages, briefings, and training, while enforcing policies to ensure DOT compliance and company safety requirements are met.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Transportation/Logistics, Supply Chain, or a related field.
• Experience: Entry-level for Bachelor’s degree holders, or 1 year of experience in management, transportation/logistics, business administration, or account management if possessing a High School Diploma/GED. Willingness to travel to account, customer, and company event locations, and readiness to work multiple shifts including nights and weekends as needed. Relocation may be required depending on account assignment.
• Skills: Understanding of DOT regulations and compliance; proficient customer service; operational problem-solving; strong interpersonal and relationship-building abilities; analytical decision-making.
• Bonus: Experience managing a team; ability to anticipate and resolve conflicts; strong adaptability to changing environments; excellent communication and interpretive skills; proactive problem-solving for operational issues.
