Associate – Asset Based Lending Underwriting | Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group
The Tone:
This is a full-time hybrid role at Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group (MUFG), with an expectation of four days in an MUFG office or client site and one day remote. • Team: Reports to the ABF Underwriting Manager within the Asset-Based Finance Group (ABF Group).
• Mission: Underwrite and syndicate Asset-Based Lending transactions for clients across various industries by assessing credit and collateral risks and managing the approval process.
What You’ll Actually Do
• Structuring & Evaluation: In conjunction with the ABF Origination team, evaluate customer information to determine optimal financing structures and security packages.
• Due Diligence: Perform detailed financial and collateral due diligence, coordinating with the deal team, third parties, and borrowers.
• Approval Process: Manage the internal transaction approval process, which includes drafting approval memoranda, submitting them through internal systems, and presenting to management and the credit committee.
• Syndication Coordination: Coordinate with the Syndication team to draft offering memoranda and presentations for investors, organize bank meetings, and answer investor due diligence questions.
• Deal Closing: Lead the deal closing process, coordinating with legal counsel to ensure all necessary legal diligence is conducted and loan documents accurately reflect the bank’s credit approval and terms.
• Mentorship & Compliance: Support and mentor junior analysts in the credit risk management process, guiding them in completing complex assignments and ensuring compliance with policy requirements.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent; Corporate finance professional with a solid credit and analytical background.
• Experience: 3+ years of relevant financial experience, with a specific preference for Asset-Based Lending experience.
• Skills: Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills; Strong financial modeling skills.
• Bonus: MBA a plus; Completion of a formal credit-training program at a money center bank a plus; Field Exam or Appraisal Experience a plus.
