Staff Accountant | First Horizon Bank

The Tone:
This is a full-time, onsite role at First Horizon Bank, a leading regional financial services company dedicated to helping clients, communities, and associates unlock their full potential. The company operates in 12 states across the southern U.S., offering diverse financial services including commercial, private banking, and wealth management. As an Accountant I within the Corporate Accounting department, you will ensure the accuracy, proper completion, and compliance of general ledger entries and account reconciliations, which is crucial for the integrity of the company’s financial statements.

• Team: Reports to an Accounting Manager assigned to the Corporate Accounting department.
• Mission: Ensure financial statements are accurate, compliant, and properly supported through meticulous account reconciliations and general ledger entries.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Reconcile Financial Records: Perform reconciliation of accounts and general ledger entries to ensure accuracy and proper inclusion in financial statements.
• Ensure Compliance: Verify proper completion, approval, and adherence to departmental guidelines and procedures for all accounting entries.
• Investigate Discrepancies: Participate in the research and resolution of any discrepancies found during review and assist other departments with general ledger entry corrections.
• Provide Accounting Guidance: Offer direction and guidance to advance employee knowledge of company policies and assist other areas by responding to questions and resolving problems.
• Optimize Processes & Policies: Collaborate with Management to maintain current business processes, stay updated on accounting and First Horizon Bank’s policies, and assist in communicating improvements and changes.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting. Career level: Entry-Level.
• Experience: Prior related work experience in a Corporate Accounting department is preferred.
• Skills: Familiarity with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP); ability to effectively work independently.
