Finance Development Program – Analyst | Grainger
The Tone:
This is a full-time, hybrid role at Grainger, located in downtown Chicago and/or Lake Forest, IL. Grainger is a leading broad line distributor with operations primarily in North America, Japan, and the United Kingdom, committed to keeping the world working by serving over 4.5 million customers worldwide. This role is part of a three-year Financial Development Program, a unique opportunity for recent college graduates and early-in-career professionals to develop the critical financial, analytical, digital, and end-to-end thinking skills required for successful finance professionals, gaining broad exposure to various areas of corporate finance through structured 1-year rotations.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Program Engagement: Participate in a comprehensive onboarding program, development sessions, structured technical trainings, meet and greets with executive leaders, formal mentorship, and informal networking opportunities.
• Strategic Influence: Gain direct experience influencing decisions in multiple divisions throughout Grainger’s organization.
• Technical Skill Development: Learn, develop, and utilize technical skills with visualization tools such as PowerBI, coding languages including SQL, R, or Python, and gain experience with SAP ERP and financial planning software.
• Finance Rotations: Acquire hands-on experience and learning across various areas of Grainger’s finance organization, such as Finance Operations, Financial Accounting, Tax, Treasury, Audit, Financial Planning and Analysis, Analytics, Data Science, and Finance Shared Services.
• Productivity Enhancement: Leverage AI technology and tools to drive continuous improvement and enhance overall productivity within financial processes.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Early career professional with a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a business or STEM-related discipline, or an undergraduate degree in these areas with 1–2 years of related work experience.
• Experience: Expected graduation before June 2027, but no sooner than 2 years prior; no visa sponsorships required now or in the future.
• Skills: Analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to summarize data into information, reach logical conclusions, evaluate, and improve processes; strong written and verbal communication skills with comfortability to collaborate with all levels; experience with Excel, various data structures, and ability to create ad-hoc databases for financial modeling.
• Bonus: Working knowledge and/or experience with AI tools and automation; proven problem-solving and critical thinking capabilities; ability to meet tight deadlines, prioritize workload, and actively participate/lead projects; a continuous improvement mindset through processes and technology.
