Staff Accountant | Orbis

This is a full-time Staff Accountant role at Orbis, located in McLean, VA with a hybrid schedule. What You’ll Actually Do
• Ledger Management: Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, preparing and posting journal entries accurately and on time.
• Accounts Payable: Process vendor invoices, ensure timely and accurate payments, reconcile the AP sub-ledger to the general ledger, and maintain vendor records.
• Financial Close: Support the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process.
• Reconciliation: Perform monthly bank reconciliations and resolve discrepancies promptly, ensuring all transactions are accurately recorded and supported.
• Audit Preparation: Assist in the preparation of documentation for annual financial audits and maintain organized, audit-ready records.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, with solid, hands-on accounting experience.
• Experience: 2–5 years of hands-on accounting experience across multiple functions (GL, AP, AR, bank reconciliations), including a minimum of 2 years of recent direct experience with Deltek Costpoint.
• Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and effective written and verbal communication.
• Bonus: Experience in a government contracting environment and familiarity with FAR/DFARS cost accounting standards.
