Accounting Assistant | Valley Hospitality

This is an in-person role at Valley Hospitality, located in Columbus, GA. This Accounting Assistant position is foundational to our financial operations, playing a critical role in ensuring the integrity and accuracy of our financial records. This position directly contributes to the smooth functioning of daily accounting tasks, enabling the department to provide reliable financial insights and maintain compliance across all our ventures.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Financial Reporting & Account Reconciliation: Assist in preparing detailed reports that accurately account for payments and daily bank deposits, and actively contribute to the timely reconciliation of various account balances.
• Accounts Payable Processing: Execute precise data entry for incoming invoices, manage manual check payments from property-specific petty cash checking accounts, and meticulously record the cost of goods sold specifically for food and beverage operations.
• Vendor Statement & Account Review: Systematically review vendor statements to verify all charges and transactions, performing necessary reconciliations to ensure accuracy and resolve discrepancies.
• Daily Deposit Management: Accurately process and post daily deposits for all of Valley Hospitality’s hotel and restaurant properties, ensuring all transactions are recorded promptly and correctly.
• Departmental & Month-End Support: Provide comprehensive assistance to the Accounting Department, specifically with critical bank reconciliations, the systematic organization of records management, and supporting the timely execution of month-end closing procedures.
• Corporate Office & Management Assistance: Support the corporate office by compiling and providing any necessary reports, and execute other administrative and accounting duties as requested by management.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-Level. High School Diploma or GED required.
• Experience: Preferred experience in an accounting or general office support role.
• Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word), strong written and verbal communication skills, a high degree of detail orientation, and the ability to manage sensitive and confidential information.
• Compliance: Must pass a background check and drug test.
• Bonus: Demonstrated ability to maintain composure and effectiveness in stressful situations.
