This is a full-time, one-year Administrative Fellowship at Essentia Health, with available locations in Fargo, ND, Brainerd, MN, and Duluth, MN, and a possible hybrid option. This fellowship nurtures independence and experiential learning, specifically designed to assist individuals in transitioning from academically acquired knowledge to the actual management of healthcare organizations. • Mission: To transition individuals with Masters degrees from academic knowledge to practical management within healthcare organizations through structured experiential learning.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Leadership Development: Engage in a preceptor-directed program, working side-by-side with Essentia Health’s Senior Leaders to develop independence and gain direct experiential learning in healthcare management.
• Strategic Planning & Growth: Participate in critical leadership opportunities by contributing to the strategic planning process, identifying business development initiatives, and exploring new ventures for the organization.
• Operational Management: Obtain hands-on experience in the day-to-day management of healthcare operations, encompassing administration services, financial oversight, human resources functions, and the intricacies of hospital-based services.
• Process Optimization: Drive improvements by focusing on employee engagement strategies and implementing process improvement (Process Excellence) methodologies to enhance efficiency, quality, and service delivery across the organization.
• Clinical & System Integration: Gain exposure to and understanding of clinical operations, and engage with information systems to learn how technology supports and integrates various functions within a large healthcare setting, including other areas of interest.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Master’s Degree. This one-year Administrative Fellowship is specifically designed for individuals who have obtained a Masters of Healthcare Administration (MHA) or a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) degree, focusing on a transition into professional healthcare leadership.
• Experience: The program is structured for individuals moving from an academic background to practical application, thus no prior specific years of professional experience are required. The fellowship itself provides the foundational experience in healthcare management.
• Skills: Possess a strong aptitude for leadership, strategic thinking, and problem-solving, with a foundational understanding of healthcare operations, finance, human resources, and process improvement concepts relevant to healthcare organizations.
