ACCOUNTING SPECIALIST I | City of Nampa Human Resources
The Tone:
This is a full-time role at the City of Nampa, located in Nampa, ID. The City of Nampa’s Utility Billing Department is dedicated to providing essential services to its residents. This role is crucial for ensuring the accurate and timely processing of financial accounts and utility billing, maintaining the smooth operation of departmental functions, and fostering positive public relations for the community.

• Team: Utility Billing Department, reporting to the Utility Billing Supervisor.
• Mission: Process and maintain financial records and support utility billing operations to ensure accurate and timely service for the community.
• Tech Stack: personal computer, standard or customized software applications, 10-key, Copy/Fax Machine, handheld meter reading devices
What You’ll Actually Do
• Financial Record Management: Maintain financial files according to established policies and generate financial reports as directed.
• Utility Account Processing: Perform data entry for utility billing, including setting up new accounts, managing records, and processing charges and adjustments.
• Billing Cycle Coordination: Process monthly utility bills by coordinating meter readers and billing staff to meet deadlines, and print necessary billing registers and bills.
• Specialized Billing: Bill Industrial Sewer and Capacity Optimization agreements for the wastewater department on a monthly basis.
• Administrative Support: Perform various clerical functions, including answering phones, responding to patron questions, and preparing correspondence.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-Level. High School Graduate or GED is required, with foundational knowledge in accounting or bookkeeping principles.
• Experience: 1+ years of experience in related accounting or bookkeeping, or an equivalent combination of experience and training.
• Skills: Ability to type accurately and make computations, maintain records efficiently, operate office equipment (PC, 10-key, copy/fax), and communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
