Winchester Accounting Intern | Winchester Ammunition
The Tone:
This is an internship at Winchester Ammunition, located in Independence, MO. Winchester Ammunition, a division of Olin, is a global leader in ammunition manufacturing. This Accounting Intern role offers a chance to contribute directly to the Finance and Accounting team by supporting financial reporting, account reconciliations, data analysis, and month-end close activities. It provides valuable hands-on experience, helping to develop both technical and analytical accounting skills within a real-world business operation.

• Mission: This person will support the Finance and Accounting team by contributing to core financial processes and analysis.
What You’ll Actually Do
• Financial Close: Assist with the monthly financial close process and complete assigned accounting tasks.
• Journal Entries: Prepare and post journal entries while maintaining supporting documentation.
• Reconciliations: Support account reconciliations and investigate discrepancies and variances.
• Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to collect, validate, and organize financial information.
• Analysis & Projects: Assist with ad hoc financial analyses, reporting requests, and special projects.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Enrolled at an accredited college or university majoring in an undergraduate or graduate Finance, Accounting, or business-related degree program, with a minimum of 60 completed credit hours and an overall grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
• Experience: Prior experience or coursework in accounting processes, financial controls, and business operations.
• Skills: Financial reporting, account reconciliation, data analysis, journal entry preparation, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work continuously throughout the year (part-time). Must possess a valid US Driver’s license and be a U.S. citizen for access to the Independence, MO facility, which requires successful vetting for unescorted access and as an Employee Possessor, along with the ability to access ITAR controlled technical data.
• Bonus: Experience in ammunition and firearms with a knowledge of the shooting sports industry is preferred.
