The Tone:
This is a full-time, on-site role at Mexcor International, located in Houston, TX. Mexcor International is a vertically integrated beverage and spirits company with over a century of heritage, specializing in the direct importation, brand development, and commercialization of authentic spirits and beverages across all 50 states. This Staff Accountant role is crucial for maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and providing timely financial information to support the company’s strategic business decisions.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Maintain accurate financial records by posting journal entries and reconciling bank and general ledger accounts.
• Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities, contributing to timely financial statement preparation.
• Prepare and review financial reports, supporting accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.
• Help ensure compliance with internal controls and applicable accounting standards.
• Analyze variances, support audit activities, and assist with budgeting and forecasting initiatives.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; Entry-Level career level, with core domain knowledge in general accounting.
• Experience: Demonstrated experience with accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, including invoice review, payment processing, and collections support. Experience with financial reporting, variance analysis, and supporting budgeting/forecasting activities.
• Skills: Strong general accounting skills including journal entries and account reconciliations; proficiency with accounting and ERP software, and advanced Excel skills; knowledge of GAAP and internal controls; strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Bonus: CPA or progress toward certification; prior accounting experience in consumer goods, distribution, or the beverage/alcohol industry.
