Accounting and CFO Advisory Internship – Summer 2027 – San Francisco | Frank, Rimerman + Co. LLP

The Tone
This is an internship at Frank, Rimerman + Co. LLP, located in San Francisco, CA. The firm’s growing Accounting and CFO Advisory (ACFO) practice is comprised of over 60 talented and team-oriented professionals who are dedicated to their work. This team specializes in managing the full scope of accounting, finance, and human resources functions for various early and mid-stage startups. The role is critical as interns will contribute to providing essential outsourced accounting, controller, and CFO advisory services. These services empower entrepreneurs and startup leaders to focus on business growth by expertly handling complex operational tasks, allowing clients to build their respective in-house teams when ready. Interns will experience what makes the firm unique, including its values, culture, and diverse client base, working in small teams alongside ACFO members and gaining insight into innovative companies across various industries. Beyond direct ACFO work, interns are encouraged to participate in Firm-wide events, such as the Annual Meeting, and various socials, fostering connections that can lead to a return as a full-time Associate. What You’ll Actually Do
• Client Engagement: Attend client meetings and engagement planning sessions to understand project scope.
• Transaction Processing: Provide support for the processing of client financial transactions.
• Month-End Close: Help clients complete the month-end closing procedures for their financial records.
• Workpaper Completion: Apply analytical and technical skills to finalize ACFO workpapers.
• Special Projects: Undertake specific projects as assigned within the ACFO practice.
• Funding & M&A Support: Potentially observe clients as they prepare for and evaluate funding rounds or mergers and acquisitions.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-Level position for students enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in business with an emphasis in accounting.
• Experience: Final graduation date with California CPA licensure eligibility between December 2027 and August 2028. Must have completed at least one accounting course, and be on track to complete a minimum of three accounting courses prior to the internship. Minimum overall GPA of 3.2 with “B” grades or above in accounting courses.
• Skills: Clear, professional written and oral communication; Analytical and technical proficiency for workpaper completion; Motivation to obtain CPA license.
