The Tone:
This is a hybrid internship opportunity with bioMérieux, a company offering significant practical experience in a professional setting. The role is located in Salt Lake City, Utah, requiring a presence in the office two days a week, preferably Monday/Tuesday, and an initial 2-4 week in-office training period. This internship provides a unique chance for accounting students to gain valuable, hands-on experience across various accounting functions, including Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), and general accounting. As a Finance Intern, you will play a supportive role in the financial operations, contributing directly to the daily tasks and critical period-end processes. The experience gained here will directly supplement your academic studies and provide a foundational understanding of corporate finance within a professional organization.

• Mission: To assist with daily accounting tasks, support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, and learn core accounting principles.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Assist Daily Operations: Support the finance team by executing essential daily accounting tasks. This includes diligent data entry to maintain accurate records, performing account and vendor reconciliations to ensure financial integrity, and preparing journal entries for various transactions. These contributions are fundamental to the smooth running of the accounting department.
• Support Period-End Closes: Actively participate in the crucial month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes. Your assistance will involve various tasks as needed to help the team meet deadlines and accurately report financial performance, providing exposure to the full accounting cycle.
• Aid Audit Preparation: Help compile and organize data for both external and internal audits. This involves preparing necessary documentation and reports, offering insights into compliance requirements and the audit process, which is vital for regulatory adherence and internal controls.
• Apply Accounting Principles: Engage in learning and actively applying fundamental accounting principles and standards in real-world scenarios. This practical application will reinforce theoretical knowledge acquired during your studies, bridging the gap between academia and professional practice.
• Collaborate and Project Support: Offer assistance to other members of the Accounting and Finance teams, undertaking various accounting functions and special projects as assigned by the Associate Director, Internal Control, fostering cross-departmental collaboration.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Actively enrolled as a Junior or Senior in an Accounting, Business, or Finance Undergraduate degree program, or enrolled in a Masters program in Accounting, Business or Finance. Must be located in Utah and able to commute to the Salt Lake City office at least 50% of the time.
• Experience: None explicitly required.
• Skills: Excel experience.
• Bonus: Previous experience in accounting or finance.
