Cost Accountant I – Operational Finance | Turner Construction Company

What You’ll Actually Do
• Project Accounting: Assist with and perform project accounting tasks, analyzing financial data for assigned projects using company financial systems.
• Cost Reporting: Assist with the preparation, review, and audit of Cost reports, learning to identify cost variances and project risks.
• Financial Reconciliation: Audit and reconcile client bills against the general ledger to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Accounts Payable Support: Assist with and support timely Accounts Payable (AP) transactions, reviewing vendor and subcontractor invoices for accurate cost coding.
• Month-End Close: Learn and perform assigned components of month-end close activities, including posting journal entries and reconciling general ledger accounts.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited program in Finance, Accounting, Construction Management, or a related field of study. Requires a foundational understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and financial processes.
• Experience: Minimum 1 year of related experience; internship or co-op experience in accounting or finance is preferred.
• Skills: Highly organized with accuracy and attention to detail; ability to work collaboratively and effectively with team members; proficient in Microsoft Office suite applications, including Excel, Word, and Outlook; professional verbal and written communication skills.
• Bonus: Demonstrated interest in cost accounting, construction finance, or project-based financial management; basic understanding of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools for financial analysis, data validation, and process automation.
