The Tone:
This is a temporary internship at UHY-US, located in West Des Moines, IA. UHY is one of the nation’s largest professional services firms, providing audit, tax, consulting, and advisory services primarily to the middle market, and is part of a top 20 international network. This role offers an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in client accounting advisory services, providing exposure to real-world accounting practices and client interactions, while contributing to accurate financial reporting for a diverse clientele.

• Mission: Gain real-world accounting experience and support accurate financial reporting within client accounting advisory services.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Account Reconciliation: Assist in reconciling financial accounts, ensuring accuracy and compliance with established accounting standards.
• Data Management: Work with accounting software to accurately input and verify financial data for various clients.
• Report Preparation: Support the preparation of essential financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and other relevant reports.
• Financial Analysis: Collaborate with senior accountants to analyze financial data and provide initial insights.
• Client Interaction: Participate in client meetings to gather financial information, understand client needs, offer support, and address basic inquiries.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-Level. Currently enrolled at an accredited college/university pursuing a degree in accounting, finance, or a related field. Possess a High School Diploma or GED.
• Experience: 0 – 1 year of relevant experience in an accounting or finance-related capacity.
• Skills: Understanding of accounting standards, experience with accounting software for data entry, ability to support financial statement preparation, basic data analysis, and organized documentation practices.
• Bonus: Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
