The Tone:
This is an early career leadership development role at PLS Logistics Services, located in Pittsburgh, PA. PLS Logistics Services is a leading third-party logistics (3PL) provider that connects shippers with carriers, optimizing supply chains across various industries. This Manager in Training (MIT) Program is designed to cultivate the next generation of logistics leaders through a comprehensive, hands-on, 4-month rotational experience. The role is pivotal in ensuring the company’s continued growth and operational excellence by developing individuals ready to take on significant responsibilities.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Sales Mastery: Master freight brokerage sales techniques, including client acquisition, pricing negotiation, and deal closure to build a robust book of business.
• Operational Acumen: Dive into carrier management strategies, shipment coverage logistics, and effective service resolution processes within the operations function.
• Business Relationship Building: Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with both shippers and carriers, acting as a key point of contact for logistics needs.
• Client Service Resolution: Address and resolve real client service issues through to completion, ensuring satisfaction and maintaining high service standards.
• Corporate Function Exposure: Gain comprehensive exposure to essential corporate departments including marketing, finance, human resources, and national accounts through structured rotations.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Minimum qualification of a Bachelor’s degree (or nearing completion) in a related field, positioning this as an early career opportunity.
• Experience: 0–2 years of sales or related professional experience. Candidates should demonstrate leadership experience through academic achievements, athletic participation, or extracurricular involvement.
• Skills: Confidence in professional networking and public speaking. Possess a results-driven, entrepreneurial mindset combined with a strong work ethic and proactive approach.
• Bonus: Willingness to relocate to a PLS branch location nationwide upon successful completion of the Manager in Training program. Active and strong involvement in campus or community organizations (e.g., Greek life, clubs, service groups).
