This is a full-time, hybrid role located in Irving, Texas, supporting the Finance, Accounting & Administration team at Highgate Hotels Corporate Office – NY. Highgate Hotels is a prominent real estate and hospitality management company known for its performance-driven operations and entrepreneurial environment. This Staff Accountant position is integral to the financial operations, taking responsibility for general ledger maintenance, precise journal entries, and thorough reconciliations across a diverse portfolio of hotels. The role contributes directly to the preparation of accurate financial reports, critical variance analysis, and adherence to US GAAP, fostering professional growth within a leading organization.

• Mission: To diligently manage general ledger accounts, execute journal entries, perform detailed reconciliations, and facilitate all month-end and year-end close activities for a diverse portfolio of hospitality properties, ensuring financial accuracy, compliance with US GAAP, and timely reporting.
• Tech Stack: ERP/GL systems (specifically SAP, Oracle, NetSuite), Advanced Excel (including pivot tables and VLOOKUP functions)
What You’ll Actually Do
• Journal Entries & Reconciliations: Prepare and post accurate journal entries for a multi-property hospitality portfolio and perform monthly balance sheet and bank reconciliations.
• Month-End Close: Support month-end and year-end close activities, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in financial reporting processes.
• Financial Reporting & Analysis: Assist with the preparation of internal financial statements and management reports, analyzing variances against budget/forecast to explain key drivers.
• Compliance & Coordination: Maintain compliance with US GAAP and company accounting policies, coordinating with hotel and corporate teams to resolve accounting issues.
• Audit Support & Process Improvement: Support audits by preparing schedules and responding to auditor requests, while also contributing to process improvements within the finance function.
The Must-Haves
• Background: This role is designed for a Staff-level accountant with a solid foundation in general ledger accounting principles and a comprehensive understanding of US GAAP. A Certified Information System Auditor (CISA) certification is noted as part of the role’s specifications.
• Experience: Candidates must possess demonstrated experience in performing account reconciliations, managing month-end and year-end close processes, and handling accounts payable/receivable processing efficiently and accurately.
• Skills: Essential skills include advanced proficiency in Excel, specifically demonstrated through the use of pivot tables and VLOOKUP, alongside practical experience with major ERP/GL systems such as SAP, Oracle, or NetSuite. Strong financial reporting, variance, and trend analysis capabilities are also required.
• Bonus: Experience includes coordinating with hotel and corporate teams to resolve accounting issues and contributing to process improvements and automation within finance operations.
