Tax Senior, Core Tax Services – Corporate/ASC 740 Focus | BDO

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at BDO, available in various locations. BDO provides core tax services, helping clients navigate complex tax regulations and minimize their reporting burdens. This role is crucial for ensuring client compliance, accurately preparing tax accruals, and identifying strategic opportunities to reduce tax liabilities. Your contributions will directly impact client success and uphold the firm’s quality standards.

• Mission: Ensures client tax compliance, minimizes tax burdens, and prepares accurate tax accruals for corporate clients.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Tax Compliance: Manage the tax process and conduct detailed reviews of tax returns, ensuring client adherence to authorities while minimizing their tax and reporting obligations.
• Tax Accrual: Prepare ASC 740 provision workpapers, identify uncertain positions, and review/prepare footnote disclosures in compliance with relevant standards.
• Research and Analysis: Determine when research is needed, frame tax issues clearly, and report analysis while adhering to Firm and professional standards for tax returns.
• Client Consulting: Assist in developing and implementing efficient methods to maximize client benefits, identify consulting opportunities, and provide support for client projects.
• Team Leadership: Supervise and manage the day-to-day work assignments of Core Tax Services Associates, providing performance feedback and acting as a mentor.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Statistics is required, or a Bachelor’s degree in another focus area with CPA certification (or authorization to test).
• Experience: Two or more years of prior relevant tax experience in public accounting, private industry, or consulting/professional services is preferred, along with prior basic supervisory experience.
• Skills: Solid verbal and written communication skills, strong analytical, research, and critical thinking abilities, proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, and experience with tax research databases and tax compliance process software.
• Bonus: A Master’s degree in Accountancy or Taxation is preferred, as is CPA certification (if not already fulfilling the background requirement), Attorney (admitted to practice in a U.S. jurisdiction), or Internal Revenue Service Enrolled Agent (EA) designation, and industry expertise in one or more tax specialty.
