Senior Relationship Manager, Corporate Banking | Mashreq

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Mashreq, located in Hong Kong. As a leading financial institution, Mashreq provides a comprehensive range of corporate banking solutions to its clients. This Senior Relationship Manager role is crucial for managing key client relationships, driving revenue and asset growth, and upholding the bank’s commitment to high client service standards. The individual will play a vital part in executing the corporate banking strategy in Hong Kong and expanding the bank’s global footprint through integrated client solutions.

The TL;DR

• Team: Works closely with senior bankers within the Corporate Banking Unit.
• Mission: To manage corporate client relationships, drive revenue and asset growth, and ensure high client service standards within Mashreq’s corporate banking unit.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Relationship Management: Establish, manage, and cultivate banking relationships with corporate clients, actively driving facility utilization and cross-sell in line with Hong Kong’s corporate banking strategy.
• Global Solutions: Coordinate with senior bankers and product partners across the bank’s global footprint to deliver a comprehensive suite of financial solutions, including loans, debt capital markets, trade finance, treasury, corporate finance, and global transaction banking.
• Transaction Support: Prepare essential documentation such as call reports, briefing memos, term sheets, transaction return calculations, account plans, credit capital allocation approvals, credit proposals, and financial projections to facilitate client origination and deal execution.
• Client Due Diligence: Execute and coordinate all client acceptance, onboarding, and due diligence procedures, obtaining and analyzing client annual reports, business plans, company filings, financial forecasts, and external credit reports to ensure high-quality KYCs are produced.
• Governance & Reporting: Prepare timely and accurate Management Information System (MIS) statements and reports for the unit, ensuring strict adherence to all bank and department requirements, policies, and standards, as well as compliance, audit, governance, and risk control processes.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related discipline, with a senior career level focus in Corporate Banking.
• Experience: Minimum of 10 years of direct relationship management experience within corporate banking.
• Skills: Excellent credit and financial analysis abilities, strong report writing capabilities, fluent and concise verbal and written communication in Mandarin and English, and strong organizational and interpersonal skills with the ability to handle pressure and deadlines.
• Bonus: Master’s degree or equivalent from a renowned business school or university; experience with capital market products, derivatives, trade finance, and corporate finance; and exposure to China State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs), large conglomerates/MNCs, and the Energy/Commodity sector.
