Accounts Payable Specialist | SpaceX
The Tone:
This is a full-time role at SpaceX, located in Hawthorne, CA, requiring full-time onsite presence. SpaceX develops technologies to make humanity a multi-planetary species, with the ultimate goal of enabling human life on Mars. As an Accounts Payable Specialist, you will be a key member of the finance organization, providing essential transactional support to the Accounts Payable department. This critical position involves high-volume processing of expense reports and invoices, directly contributing to the accurate and timely financial operations necessary for SpaceX’s ambitious endeavors.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Process: Efficiently process and match high volumes of invoices to purchase orders, actively resolving any discrepancies that arise.
• Ensure Compliance: Review all invoices for appropriate documentation and necessary approvals prior to processing payments.
• Manage Communications: Respond to inquiries from both external vendors and internal departments in a timely and professional manner.
• Reconcile Accounts: Perform regular reconciliation of vendor statements, thoroughly researching and correcting any identified discrepancies.
• Support Financial Operations: Coordinate weekly payment processes, manage expense report processing, and maintain accurate financial files and documentation in accordance with company policy and accounting practices.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in a finance-related field or equivalent.
• Experience: At least one year of experience in accounts payable, finance, or operations; internship experience is acceptable.
• Skills: General knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), proficiency with Microsoft Excel, experience with MS Dynamics 365 or other ERP accounting systems, strong written and oral communication.
• Bonus: Experience with SQL, strong motivation for automation and process improvement, strong organizational and time management skills, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a high-volume environment with an emphasis on accuracy and timeliness.
